What does HandleThis actually do?+
HandleThis connects an AI agent to your open Vectorworks session. It gives the agent tools to inspect your file and perform actions inside Vectorworks: creating and modifying objects, working with project organization and data, handling repetitive edits, generating documentation, and carrying out multi-step workflows. Think of it as giving your AI agent a pair of hands inside Vectorworks.
Is this only for Vectorworks Spotlight?+
No. HandleThis is designed for Vectorworks generally. It can be useful for architectural, landscape, entertainment, BIM, drafting, documentation, and other Vectorworks workflows. The specific things your agent can do depend on the objects and tools available in your version of Vectorworks.
Does HandleThis replace Vectorworks’ built-in AI features?+
No. The important distinction is that HandleThis gives an external AI tools to operate Vectorworks. You aren’t limited to generating an image or getting an answer. An agent can inspect the project, perform actions, use other files on your computer as context, and work through multiple steps toward a result.
What AI agents does it work with?+
HandleThis is built around MCP, the Model Context Protocol. It is intended to work with MCP-compatible agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and others. Some agents may be easier to configure than others, and compatibility can change as those products evolve.
Does purchasing HandleThis include AI usage?+
No. You bring your own AI agent and provider. HandleThis is the bridge between that agent and Vectorworks. That means there is no HandleThis token plan or required AI subscription. You choose and pay for the AI service separately.
Is HandleThis a subscription?+
No. HandleThis is a one-time software purchase.
Can the AI mess up my file?+
An AI agent can make real changes, so you should treat it the same way you would any powerful automation tool. HandleThis is designed to make the agent’s actions visible and steerable, but you remain responsible for reviewing the result. For significant work, normal project-versioning and backup practices are recommended.
Do I need to know how to code?+
No. The main interface is ordinary conversation with your AI agent. More technical users can also use HandleThis for scripting, custom workflows, and automation that would otherwise require substantial manual setup.
Can it create custom Vectorworks tools or scripts?+
That is one of the more interesting uses. Because coding agents can write code as well as operate Vectorworks, HandleThis can potentially let you prototype automation against a live project: write the code, run it, inspect the result, fix it, and iterate. Instead of describing a script to you, the agent can help test the idea in Vectorworks itself.
